BECOME AN ARTISAN

Welcome to One Sixty One, we are so excited that you are interested in being a part of the shop! Please read the following information to find out more about the store and the application process.

One Sixty One provides a permanent brick & mortar location as well as an online store for Canadian small businesses to sell their handmade works.

We are located at 27 William Street in beautiful downtown Paris, ON. Our store is open and fully staffed 5 days a week with extended hours for the summer and holiday seasons.

One Sixty One accepts new maker applications twice a year, with the opportunity to extend the time. Please refer to the Application Dates tab for more info.

Artisans pay a monthly fee with a small commission to be a part of the store. This fee covers artisan space in the store as well as online listings on the store’s website. HST is collected by the store and will be paid to HST registered artisans

One Sixty One opens applications to new makers twice a year. Each season requires a six (6) montn commitment.

Spring / Summer Our spring season makers sell between March 1st and September 30th

Fall / Winter Our fall season makers sell between September 1st - March 31st

Why We Charge a Monthly Fee

This fee covers your spot in our store and everything it takes to run the business—from paying staff to keeping the website running. Think of it like renting booth space at a market, except we're also handling the sales, marketing, and day-to-day work for you.

What's Included:

Your monthly fee covers our complete sales operation: trained staff who know and love your products, a 24/7 e-commerce site, real-time sales tracking through your artisan portal, rotating feature displays, all payment processing costs, packaging materials, inventory management, merchandising and restocking, marketing across our channels, and monthly direct deposit payouts.

While we would love to be able to accept all artisans that apply, unfortunately not everyone is a fit for One Sixty One

We are a fun, sassy, and sweary store, and are looking for artisans that compliment our brand. Items that target the 25 to 45 age range are the best sellers. We are looking for unique, high quality handmade goods.

Your packaging and branding matters! It must be shelf ready. We are a gift shop and want ready to gift items that highlight you and your business brand.

Our team carefully reviews each application, looking at things like the quality and originality of your work, how your branding and marketing come across, space availability within your category, and your social media activity (engagement and consistency matter more to us than follower numbers).

Please remember all items must be handmade by the artisan applying for the space. We have a limited space in store for each category; we don’t want you to be competing for sales with other artisans, and it also keeps the store unique and fun!

Applications are reviewed by our team and if accepted, you will receive an acceptance offer email fom info@onesixtyone.ca followed by the artisan contract and invoice for your first month's fee to confirm your spot.

Once the contract has been signed an invoice paid you will receive access to the artisan portal and instructions on how to prepare your products to come into the store.

If you are not accepted, that doesn't mean we don't like your work, it may just not be the right fit for our customers, or your category may be full. Please note, if you make multiple products, you may apply to more than one category, but may not be accepted for all.

If you have specific questions, or issues with the application please email: info@onesixtyone.ca
